Preparing for class

A good preparation is also part of training. Make sure your gear is in order!

For training you need to have a clean body with clipped fingernails and toenails. Jewellery should be removed. Clean and appropriate clothing is required. Women must wear a T-shirt or top, men must not. Training with a bare upper body is not done. On the mat (tatami) we walk barefoot.

Make sure you have the right gear with you. For kata training you need a practice knife and a stick/kosh. Perhaps you need some protectiongear too.

Make sure you go to the toilet before training so you don't have to go during class. Drink sufficiently before training (no alcohol!). Also make sure you have eaten well and sufficiently in advance of training.

If you are injured or handicapped, make sure you notify the teacher prior to training. He will make sure that you can train optimally and that others will be considerate.

Of course, make sure you are on time for class!
